Conservatories and roofs
Conservatory roofs in Barnsley that turn the coldest room back into a room.
Solid tiled roof replacements, new conservatories and garden rooms, and lantern roofs. Across Barnsley, Rotherham and South Yorkshire.
Why people ring us about this
Freezing in January, unusable in July.
Almost everybody says the same thing. The conservatory was lovely for the first summer, and now the door to it stays shut for most of the year. It is not the room that is wrong, it is the roof. Old polycarbonate and glass roofs let the heat straight out when it is cold and hold it in when it is hot, and no amount of blinds or heaters really fixes that.
Replacing the roof with a solid tiled one is a smaller job than starting again, and it uses the base and the frames you have already paid for.
01
A new roof on the conservatory you already have.
We take the old roof off, put a solid tiled one on, and finish the inside. You keep the base, the walls and the frames. It is the job we are asked for most and the one that changes a room the most.

02
Starting from the ground up.
If the base or the frames have had it, or you want something different from what is there, we will build it new. The stone garden room in these photographs replaced a conservatory that had come to the end of its life.
Luke and Dale have done an amazing job on our conservatory renovation. From advice on best layout, to their quality work was brilliant.

03
Daylight straight down into the middle of the room.
A lantern set into a flat roof puts light into the part of an extension that a window on the wall never reaches. Aluminium frame, glazed, sat on the flat roof.

04
Sometimes it just needs putting right.
Leaking joints, misted panels, a door that has dropped. If the structure is sound and it is the glass or the seals that have gone, say so when you ring and we will come and look at it.
Ask about a repair
One job, start to finish
The same conservatory, before and after.
This one was stripped back to the base and rebuilt as a stone garden room with a solid tiled roof.

Two views of the same job, taken from different spots in the garden, so they are shown side by side rather than as a slider.
Questions people ask us.
Can my existing base and frames take a solid roof?
Usually, but it depends on what is under there and how the conservatory was built. It is the first thing we check when we come out, and we will tell you straight if it needs more than a roof.
Do I need building regulations for a roof replacement?
Changing a conservatory roof can be notifiable work. It is one of the things we go through with you on the visit, so you know where you stand before anything is ordered.
How long will I be without the room?
It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. We will tell you what to expect for your job once we have measured it, and when we give you a date we keep it.
Can you match the brick or the stone?
We do our best to, and we will show you what we intend to use before we start. The garden room in the photographs above was built in stone to match the bungalow it is attached to.
Can you just repair the one I have got?
If the structure is sound and it is the glass or the seals that have gone, yes. Tell us what it is doing when you ring.
